About Us

Family InSight has been working with children and families in the Hunter Region since 2001.

As a parent or carer, you are the most important person in your child's life. Family InSight is here to work alongside you and your family. Whether you are feeling lonely and isolated, would like some practical tips about parenting, or are looking for some fun and healthy activities for you and your children, Family InSight has a range of options and qualified staff that are here to help you. So relax and take some time to view this site. We hope that you find what you are looking for.

As a Child and Family Practitioner, through our Networks of Practice, Family InSight provides support to Service Providers to promote the development of coordinated evidence based and accessible services to families and young children.

Family InSight is an Incorporated Association. We are a not for profit, non government organisation funded by the NSW Department of Family and Community Services and Australian Government Department of Social Services (DSS).

Family InSight works with families with children aged 0-12. Our programs are designed to enhance the health, wellbeing and development of children and to support parents to be confident, positive and connected with their communities.

Family InSight works across the Hunter Region in Cessnock, Maitland, Port Stephens, Singleton, Dungog, Muswellbrook and the Upper Hunter Local Government Areas. We also run programs in Newcastle, Lake Macquarie.

As our work is with families with children aged 0-8 years all our programs have two broad aims:
To support those critical early parent / child relationships.
To support families to be connected in their local communities.

Family InSight also works with a comprehensive range of Child and Family Practitioners and Service Providers to promote the development of coordinated evidence based and accessible services to families and young children.

The focus of our programs is on supporting positive and confident parenting, early childhood communication and development, and links with other services and supports in the community to help overcome isolation.

For the most part our programs utilise a ‘soft’ early intervention approach building on the existing strengths and skills of the families.

Our programs include:

Family Worker Program

Hunter Networks of Practice (NoP)

We hope that the way we approach our work with families and our relationships with the broader community will contribute towards a more socially inclusive society and so we strive through all of our programs to provide opportunities for all children and families to participate fully in their communities.
