FamilyInSight - Volunteers

Family InSight Volunteers

Volunteer opportunities are available for experienced adults to assist families with young children, share your experiences and become a Family InSight volunteer:

Here are a few comments from one of our existing male volunteers:

We asked Wayne what he got out of volunteering, this was his response:

"A sense that I have done something good, a feeling that I have helped the family relax a bit. My role is to fulfill the values and policies of Family InSight. Particularly a non judgmental outlook, endeavor to promote healthy lifestyle in a subtle way and use my experience with my own family to assist the children."

"I found the training great. It opened my eyes to a lot of community issues and problems I was unaware of and also the issues facing the families seeking help from Family InSight and other organisations."

We asked Wayne why this sort of volunteering might appeal to men, his response was:

"The absence of a male role model in the immediate family. If people could see the joy from the child I visit each week, maybe they would realise the importance of that extra contact that the children need. If they could look around at their own families and see that happy smiling faces when Dad or Pop is about and reflect on the fact that a lot of children don't have that opportunity. They could be fulfilling that role for one of Family InSights families."

"Pops are really good at play."

"Joy and satisfaction is what you get out of it."
