Stories in the Street

Stories in the Street or SiTS as it is more commonly referred to is a free literacy based program. It is designed to promote and encourage early literacy in children before they commence school. These informal programs utilising books, poetry, rhymes, songs, felt stories and puppetry to engage children during these hour long sessions.

These programs can provide opportunities to build on children’s social skills, increase language development, encourage the love of books and reading, whilst parents get to meet other families, discover the wonders of sharing stories with their little one and talk to other parents and professionals about parenting local events and support services.

Our aim is to improve the outcomes for your child before they start school, it is said that the most important activity for building knowledge required to succeed in school is reading in the early years.
Most young children love a good book being read to them. So come along and give your child a head start in fun and relaxing environment.
